Best Controller Ever
By Arron Alexander
I was looking for a contoller and they all seemed the same. 2 Channnels, 1 Mic and they only worked with the software they came with. I was blown away by the VMS4. 4 Channels that can be used for USB input and Analog inputs. If I want to use my CD player and my computer all at the same time, I can. Also, 2 mic inputs. The mics did not sound great, but I callled American Audio and they sent me the fix. Now it sounds great! This thing is built like a tank and I am surprised that it is only $499.99. The Virtual DJ software is cool and I upgraded so I can run 4 decks and full video mixing

DO NOT BUY THE VMS4!
By Paul Reedy
This unit, the original VMS4, while the features are nice, it has a few flaws. The mic channels are poorly designed, which caused ADJ to send out matching transformers to help with the problem. The other problem (Which ADJ has not stated how or if they are going to make good on) is that the unit has extreme low output. If you're going to run this into your home stereo, or some powered speakers that will take near microphone levels, then it'll work. A normal mixer is rated for 0.775v RMS at 0db. This one puts out 0.2 v rms at 0db, and 0.5v at +7db, so if you don't mind running your sound into the red all night, and have it be half the volume as any other mixer on the market, great, this one is for you.ADJ has aknowledged the output problem, but has yet to address current owners who are stuck with it. I end up having to run this controller into another mixer to get the gain needed to drive my PLX sub amplifiers. You can see the results here by searching for "VMS4 mixer output comparison"ADJ has come out with the VMS4.1 which supposedly has fixed the microphone issues and they stated on the phone that the output is "about double" of the original (still not enough). They won't state actual rated output over the phone, however, the manual states a 1.6v output with gain at max which is not true. I don't know how this thing got passed QA, obviously they screwed up and didn't want to lose money on this, so they sold it anyway hoping that nobody would bring up this issue while they redesign it and come out with the VMS4.1
