Great Snowsnows

After buying a brand new pair of Redfeather technical snowshoes and finding that the binding was not balanced causing the snowshoe to toe down into the snow and the release mechanism is all on the toe which put me in a dangerous position when my feet slid deeply under a fallen tree trunk and tangled in brush in a swamp and I couldn't get the snowshoes off for a long time; I ordered these Atlas snowshoes. I work on snowshoes. They need to take me across all kinds of terrain in the backwoods off trail. These were about three inches longer than I had before but they work great. If I wear these out (in the past I have broken a metal frame by extensive use), I will get another pair of Atlas snowshoes if the quality remains the same as these. I chose not to get the women's pair, though I am a smaller woman, because I carry a 20-25 lb backpack. I need all the loft in deep snow that I can get. I didn't have any problems walking on the larger-sized snowshoe.

These are my 2nd set of Atlas snowshoes. It took me 7 years to wear out the first set. The climbing bar is very nice for steep ascents. The bindings work very well and I never need to adjust them during a hike. Because the bindings are so secure and snug they are a bit harder to remove at the end of the hike, but well worth it due to the improved comfort and fit during the hike. These seem to be more lightweight than my first set.
